It so far looks like they cut what they needed.  Also, coyotes have been sighted on Mt Zion Church Rd last month.  They have seen foxes up that way too.

There was one reported a year or two ago up in the same area.
great report!

It was spotted going across the  road on Oak Level Church Road. near Belews Lake according to Sylvester, Tweety's husband. That was yesterday. I do know he saw it because he came home all excited. He gets confused as to the names of the roads.  Since we once lived in Texas and had the opportunity to see "cats" on the loose, I am sure he knows what he saw. Not like me who once had my grandfather load his rifle in Pennsylvania when I swore I saw a deer in the next yard. Turned out to be a goat that had broken out of his pen! So I have never been invited to hunt with anyone!

Wildlife of a different sort required my attention today, but I am curious about:

Bear watching certainly takes a lot of infinitesimal fortitude.

Does that mean "fortitude" occurs continously in magnitude by very, very small increments?

I understand the Cat was about the size of a labrador and golden in color. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND THE NC DEPT. of wildlife has the Eastern Cougar listed as endangered. Some sightings are attributed to pets being turned loose by irresponsible exotic animal owners. These animals can live in areas where white tailed deer are plentiful. they subdue their prey and often drag it to thickets where they cover it in leaves and brush to return to it later to feed. They are usally seen in twilight hours. They tend to shy away from man, but will attack when cornered.

I know him as Rebel.  He introduced himself as such.  Glad you have lots of time on your

hands to check out all the facts on these  many different blogs.  Thanks.  You do seem to

know it all.

By the way,  we knew the owner of one of these animals that was  attacked.  The NWO had an article and photo concerning this attack.

WXII 12 news had some coverage on this cat, too.  They had actual footage showing the cat.  They spoke to people who sighted it.

Mrsnose,
Can you remember the dates of the first sighting? The Eastern Cougar is said to have a range of 10 to  500 miles, possible the 2nd cat is actually the  same cat. Thanks for the report!

No, I can't remember the date.  Maybe Sandra can get you the NWO article.  I know the newscast was just a bit after the report in the NWO.

I remember hearing about sightings of a bobcat or something a couple of years ago. Is that what you mean?

Jim Flynt,

I don't know how to "reply to you privately."  Apparently, you misinterpeted my post.  You missed the most important word -"thanks".  I meant that "you seem to be knowledgeable."  I'm sure that people on these blogs appreciate all the info you provide and the time you take to research this info.  You do not have to apologize.  Have a nice day.  :)

I remember a story maybe a year ago about some dogs getting mauled by something like a big cat of some kind. I don't remember if they ever figgered out what it was.

That is the story. Pictures appeared to be that of a cat of the garden variety Cougar. A bobcat is much smaller and has a very short tail, hence the name bobcat. As I understand from articles
the tracks of canines and felines are similar in nature feline tracks have no claws.
