Since the Moderators of this Forum have allowed this entire thread (which I initiated) to be highjacked by those wishing to post off topic hogwash, I have elected to remove all of my posts herein.

Obviously, no one wants a discussion of the serious issues facing Stokesdale; including, quite obviously, the Forum Moderators.

(Note: the post below was in response to another post that has since been deleted by Jim Flynt. Why he deleted it, I don't know ... it was one of his better ones).

Well said, Jim.

I think you've cited an excellent book, and one that should be on the "must read" list for every candidate, as well as every person who is in any leadership role.

I for one believe in the seven habits.  The first of the seven of course is to be proactive and I know that we can pay now or pay later and generally speaking the time for action is in the present not in the future.  In my job the outcomes almost always are better if one prevents rather than cleans up afterward as we have seen in some of the decisions that have been made of late in Stokesdale.  I will listen to all citizens concerns and issues that are offered.  The main issues that I see at this time in Stokesdale are; potential for over development, increase in criminal activity, meeting the recreational needs of the children in the area, resources that will keep residents spending in our community instead of having to leave, promotion of affordable housing for those that live on incomes inherent to our area and active involvement of the Town Council for procurement of needed resources.  Pro-action on these points will promote the preservation and heritage of Stokesdale and lend to a balanced, diverse population in the future.  After looking at other areas around us, I see the dissolution of the working class.  Community involvement is the key to survival of a town like ours.  Eventually, the core of folks that have contributed to things such as the Veterans Memorial will be gone and if we don't act now to offer residents resources that they can identify with, Stokesdale will become a cocoon community as we see with others locations.

Mr. Hooks,

You mention youth recreation as one of the community concerns. I, too, have always been an advocate for keeping our kids involved in healthy recreational activities.

That said, what is your opinion of our parks and rec association, as noted in their latest financial statement, raising +-$7000 this year from sponsors, while taking in +-$17000 in registration fees from the kids. In my opinion, the kids are being made to pay for alot more than their share. For example, from the budget, uniforms(some very expensive) for the "Allstar" teams were purchased from the general budget. In other words, the whole is paying for the enjoyment of the few. Just know that sponsors used to bear the burden of the budget, now it seems it's the kids.

Your response?

Unfortunately, I have failed to see any "true" conviction from candidates on this forum.

Yes, my questions are sticky, but even a politically correct, on the fence, answer would have sufficed.

Too bad............

Just call me the "Political Forum Killer"

Since this is the latest political post in Stokesdale forum.........

I have been reading alot of past and present posts here in the last few days. Seems that alot of behind the scenes things in Stokesdale politics get discussed, and sometimes hashed out on here.

How much of what is hashed out here true verses hearsay?

In reality, one must also have the "reactive" gene in him or her to be prepared for every aspect of life. A good leader would develop just the right proportion of each.  And the sad truth is, some have neither characteristic. They just exist without purpose or preparedness.

Although there are obviously candidates lurking about in this forum, it surprises me that they choose to only post in the non-serious, silly talk sections, most of the time.

Has Thearon Hooks' computer crashed since he made his last campaign post??

Where is Jim Attaway?

Are there others hiding amongst the anonymous screen names?

Less than 90 days to E-day, fellows. Show yourselves.

Just so you folks will not be kept in suspense, my father is 84  and had a heart attack and emergency 5 vessel bypass surgery.  Then we have an aunt that died last Wed. out of town and another in the hospital here with a high fever and pneumonia after surgery this weekend.  My plate has been full for the last week and a half.  Please keep in mind that I enjoy the Forum and will be back ASAP.  Let this act as documentation that indeed my computer did not crash.

Mr. Hooks, my last comment about flaming was not directed toward you, but previous posters. You snuck a post in between while I was posting!  Sometimes we all get a little carried away because the issues are near and dear to us.

I'm sure most of the people of Stokesdale appreciate any time that you can give to the citizens to let them know your stance on the issues.  I'm sorry to hear about your dad and your aunt.
