That one's not Hamlet though... It's either from Twelfth Night or a Summerfield Town Council Member!
Gettin' back to bidness, is that from Twelfth Night in a Closed Session, Crackah? In that case I reckon you would have to define "great" as "big" -- as in "big head", as in "big mouth", as in "big ideas thrust upon us designed to stop progress". Hee hee!

"Et tu, Brute!" In other words (and it's a very loose translation), I can see that you get my drift! Last edited on Oct 14th, 2006 09:06 pm by Cracker Jax

"Be not afraid of greatness: some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon 'em."
--From Twelfth Night (II, v, 156-159)
In this scene, the comic plot (as opposed to the romantic plot) unfolds when Malvolio, Countess Olivia's priggish steward, comes upon a letter that the merrymakers in the play have left for him to find. One night as Sir Toby, Andrew, Maria and Feste are carousing, Malvolio bursts in to scold them for their behavior. His egotism and condescending manner so offends them that they decide to play a practical joke by arranging for him to find a love letter that he will believe is from Olivia to himself. The writer of this anonymous letter suggests that he can become "great" by doing certain things, each of which is more absurd than the next. Malvolio, in his ambitious and pretentious egotism, never questions the validity of the letter, nor the author, whom he firmly believes is Olivia. Later, as he carries out the ridiculous instructions in the letter, Olivia thinks her steward has gone mad and has him locked up.

Macca, I should have responded to your other post yesterday to say that the Christmas trees planted this past week were ones which were being planted in my yard here on the farm.
We will be planting some Christmas trees down in the Stokesdale Arboretum sometime in the next two weeks, but I'm not sure of the date yet. I will post a note right before we start so you can drop by and say Hello and even help if you wish. I have been visiting plant nurseries the past week or so "begging" for "donations" for the Arboretum and will continue to do so in the days ahead. Of course, we will be buying some plants/trees/shrubs, but every little bit of freebies helps!

Just bought my latest edition to my Christmas CD collection the other day. I usually don't start until Nov. 1, but since I have new muzak, I'm thinkin' I might get a jump on things.

Macca, Mr. Mike is notoriously absent on weekends. I think the Mrs. has him off somewhere nibblin' on lettuce!!
