Did that German fella go by the last name Johnson Pappy? If so, I've heard of 'em. Heard my pappy-in-law discussin' ol' German Johnson and he was standing in the garden at the time. Can't remember what he said about them though.

Once I'm in my new place, I want to try growing odd things.. those gray english tomatoes, purple potatoes, white asparagus, and so on..
As for weird eatin' : my wife dragged me to downtown Greensboro, the other day, to eat at Fincastles... Coke with peanuts in it!?? Have I led a sheltered life?!? Ewww!!! The establishment was not to my liking, but then again I'd rather have a root canal, than go downtown. They messed up my drink order (DIET Coke!?!? Eww...) and my food order, so my opinion may be jaded. I will not be going back. IMO, McDonald's serves a tastier meal.

Howdy, Aeolius! 'Bout got that house done yet?
Pappy tried growin' some peanuts an' some popcorn yars ago. Both came out good. I shoulda plowed up a corn field an' made a ball field an' I'd have been settin' in the fabled catbird seat then.

Howdy Aeolius! Long time no see!! Don't get down your street much since I heard the bridge is closed. How is that house coming along? I miss watching the progress!
BTW... When I was growing up, everybody bought a pack of Lance peanuts to pour in their coke bottles!!!!! I remember sitting out in front of Bill Miles' store watchin' the old timers rip into the peanuts and pourin' them in the bottles! Bet they did it at Shorty's too!!! Ask him!
Did you grow up in the South??? Maybe it's a Summerfield thing.

Pappy- Put your peaches in a brown paper bag and close them up, they will ripen up faster and very nicely or just leave them out on the counter top. Just be sure and pick through them after a couple of days so you don't loose any. I have been buying peaches at the farmers market every week since the last week in May. Love em!!

I haven't thought about fried bolgney sandwiches in years. Didn't one of the fast food restaurants have them for a short while years ago. I want to think Burger King. Last edited on Jul 21st, 2006 02:18 am by DOGGETTJA

I've often had Mr. Kidd's "make it or break it" aka "now or never" attitude with my children's education... as most parents are!
(the we've been there...done that thing...)
