For anyone who did not get my PM this morning (and lurkers), I wanted to let you know that Sandra Smith's father passed away unexpectedly last night.  Our thoughts and prayers are certainly with her and her family.

So if you are wondering, that's why MAAN has been pretty quiet today. We'll be bouncin' back before long I'm sure.

Hope everyone enjoyed the weather while it was nice!

So my spoose has been taking the kids fishing a lot lately and they love it.  I've been very supportive of this endeavor. The spoose caught "THE BIGGEST CRAPPIE EVER"  the other day... The brother in-law took pictures of it because they were so proud.

I couldn't wait to see the pics. Uh... it would have fit in a sardine can.  Hello???

Being the clever individual that I am, I just said, "Yes dear it's a lovely big fish-the biggest I've ever seen."

(BTW....I've SEEN big fish.  This was NOT a big fish)

There's something that's been bothering me about fishing in general though...

Ok.. so usually, a couple of people set out to go fishing.  They either do it from a boat or stand alongside each other on a pier or shoreline(NOT TALKING) and hold sticks and stare off into space.... What's going thru their minds???  How long can one stand there and meditate with the fishes?? What is the thrill that makes them keep coming back - especially if they don't catch anything after 8 hours of holding the stick???

I was talking to my mama about it this morning and she and I are in agreement that if we were forced to go fishing we would be assured that we had been sentanced to purgatory.....

We've tried educating ourselves by watching the fisherman guys on TV and have come to the conclusion that the only thing we can imagine that would be worse than actually going fishing in a boat with ol' Bill Dance is watching Bill Dance in a boat fishing on TV.

Would someone please enlighten me?

Dear Ask Lacka,

Pappy likes to do his fishin' settin' in the air conditionin' at a table at Cap'n Jack's down yonder in Callabash. Pappy has found cash to be excellent all 'round bait, but fer the really big'ns Pappy uses a Visa card attached to a taut line o' credit. My dilemma is this: Is it considered rude to burp rale loud after a saefood meal an' holler "That'n really put up a fight! Woo!" Mammy always gets mad.

Signed, A Prize Catch in Summerfield

You mean, along with all of Pappy's other talents, he can make all this silver in my hair go away? ♥♥♥

Of course, I don't want to get rid of it if it means I end up with one strand, like Pap!♥♥♥
