Mike had the audacity to doubt me when I said that I was 29.  He even went so far as to suggest that I join AARP!

I wrote you a message a couple of pages back warning you about his FLAMING tactics, but I think I handled him.  I had Mom write him a letter..... :D

Just wanted to let everyone know that the Odyssey of the Mind Northern Region Tournament, held at Northwest Middle and Northwest High yesterday, was a huge success! More than 140 volunteers, 87 teams. Our area was well-represented and many of our teams will advance to the state tournament! I'm sure the band made lots of money, based on all the people in the cafeteria throughout the day! Great job, Kris, for helping pull that together! I never saw you! I was around from 8:15 or so yesterday morning until it ended around 6. I know you had good volunteers there as well -- good to see some faces I haven't seen in a while!

Oh, and how could I forget? I'm sure I mentioned that I coach an OM team. My older son participated in OM from 4th thru 11th grade, got an OM scholarship last year. (Not a lot, but every little bit helps!:)) My younger son is now in 4th grade, has been around OM all his life, so I helped organize a team and have coached it since he was in 1st grade. They participated in a category that ended up being the most popular and had 16 other teams to compete against. Competition was stiff, but they took 3rd place!!! They were thrilled. They got medals and a trophy for their school. They worked hard, missed 1st place by 6 points and 2nd by 3. (!st and 2nd advance to state. There was only a 10-point difference between 1st and 5th place!) (Thanks for letting me be a proud mom and coach....:D)

Vicki, congratulations to you (coach!), your son and his team - that's great news! I wasn't there yesterday - I spent most of the day on the couch not feeling well :( My husband was there all day - he says it was a rousing success for the band and the OM people were all so very nice to work with. I think it was a win-win situation as the OM folks said it was nice for them not to have to worry about the concessions. (And we have some band people who REALLY know how to run concessions!)

Sick young'uns, sick mamas! Y'all need to stop that mess right now and get to feelin' better.

Pappy's been scannin' the skyline up toward them mountains in case Macca sends up a smoke signal or climbs up a tree an' signals with a mirror or somethin'. I think I got a young'un around here who can read Morse code. One o' these days Pappy's gonna take inventory an' see who all these young'uns are runnin' around here. Well...
