macca... thank you so much for bringing my embarrassment all the way over here for all to see.
For the record, I did not cast aspersions on any particular pet owner(Sandra), I just said that any person in possession of a personality wonderful enough to put a santa hat on their dog would not stay mad at me because I choose to skip the pet pages.
Would still rather look at pictures of people buying groceries at Food Lion. We could call it "Ringing up at Rachel's Register" or something.... Everybody knows Rachel.... You Stokesdale people probably know Rachel.... Her fame reaches all the way to Madison!

Cracker, I like that idea! And I don't even know Rachel or shop at the SF Food Lion!
psst......I don't really like the pet pages too much either. I'm not a dog person. Any right-minded cat owner knows that cats are too cool to be embarassed by having their picture made in some compromising situation

Kris.... If you shopped Food Lion, you'd KNOW Rachel.
I just think that if you take pics of people, people will in turn be thrilled to see their pics in print..... I doubt Sandra's dog ever says "MOM! I MADE THE NWO THIS WEEK!" or "I hate that picture... I look so fat!"
Just my opinion, but Sandra's dog is cute.

Lacka... did you go to Belco this morning?? I went there last night and I did not notice the smell. Do you think they've fixed the problem? Do you think it might have been a direct result of something read on this forum?? I'd like to think we did the community a service by bringing that particular problem to light....

I think the thing about the pet pages is that it gives the paper more of a community feel. Like the travel pics, it lets people contribute to the paper and feel like they are a part of it and not just reading about people that live somewhere else. In larger papers, youd never know anyone in the stories/pics, therefore the paper could just as easily be from zimbabwe and it would look the same. The NWO pet/travel pics keeps it small townish (-> thats a good thing).
I guess since I accidentally made a serious, profound, contributing to the good of the site post, I will copy it to the other page also for those that are too good for MAAN.

Sorry.... I hit a milestone over on the "Is this forum valuable" page.... Feel a little guilty not posting that one over here on MAAN.
bama... What could be more small townish than "Ringing up at Rachel's Register?"
Or just pick somebody at the Bi Rite in SD... "Cha-ching at Charlie's Checkout" for instance...
Or Lowes in OR... "Getting groceries with Gary"...
I just think I'd have a better chance recognizing someone in a grocery store pic than I would a pic of someone's dog. Especially if said dog were wearing a Santa disguise....

you're welcome and thanks. too bad only a few of us were here to see your achievement. Early bird gets the worm right. Yesterday for about an hour or 2 around 3pm there were about 14 people on but no one posted the whole time. They all must have been trying to catch up on their reading.

Cracker I know Rachel and her 13 brothers and sisters...just bought her mothers house ( NO CC ITS NOT IN THE TOWN CORE OR IN SUMMERFIELD) would like to see more pic of around town. I must admit I love dogs, don't need to own one as long as my 2 grown sons keeps bringing them home. You know how it goes "I will take care of it, if you let me keep it". Then you get attach and you don't know what happen to the kids. Cracker don't be so RUFF on the pets.

Too funny Mike.... Ruff on the pets.. ha ha ha
Ok... I'll lighten up on the pooches... still would rather look at humans....
That Rachel is hoot isn't she?? I like her a lot. I had NO IDEA she has that many siblings.....I know a lot of other stuff about her though... She'll do some talkin'!!! Makes ya feel right at home. She's a Summerfield Treasure in my opinion... Even if we just borrow her from Madison.....

Bama, you got it right; the Crackah done good with that 1000th post! Brought a tear to ol' Pappy's eye.
Pappy just stays behind these days. Ever' time a man thinks he's caught up and can rest a bit, y'all done moved the camp about 20 more miles up the trail!
Pappy would have been here sooner, but I been at a secret offshore location engaged in a Grudge Match with the Cambodian Midget Fightin' League. Them's some feisty little critters!
Anyway,
Happy Birthday Lacka!
Happy 1000, Crackah!
Macca P.I., I like the kitty.
Kris, I concur with your diagnosis, Herr Doktor.
Bama, get well soon.
Ever'body else, rock on!
Hey, where'd ever'body go? Did y'all move on again?
