Well, I don't think either Kris or I want to send the wrong message here. NWHS is blessed with tremendously talented students, I was always solidly proud of our band students. They were & are great musicians.
I grew up on a tree nursery in Illinois. The nurserymen had a saying, sometimes you have to trim a tree back until it's a "little ugly", so it can fill out and become more beautiful than ever. That's sort of what happened to the band, plus a new band director. I look back on the year I was President as a "pivotal" year, the start but not the end of many changes.
I can't help feeling Summerfield is in a "pivotal year". Major leadership changes, really hope those that replace the resignees are strong players that will tackle the issues head-on. All of us need to face issues head on also, not cower to those that seek to degrade the fabric of our community.
Whew........keyboard got stuck.
