I am new, please excuse my silly random posts. Forgive me, I'm ranting.

I would love it if we could get a historical Summerfield Organization for teens and children going. It would be an enriching experience, plus it would give me someone other to talk to than ramble to my friends at the school about history history history:) I Also understand though, that we would have a lack of interest in today's society and don't even get me started on what costs are needed.

Welcome to the forum Writingrider!!

All random thoughts are welcome here in the Much Ado About Nothing (MAAN) Forum!  :D

The historical society for our local youth sounds like a wonderful idea.  Mrs.Etta Reid or Mrs. Linda Southard (Contact info available at Town Hall)would be good sources of info about Summerfield's history as well as our own forum participant, Wepete.

Well then, while I'm at it, my friends and I want to raise some money to do something with the Hillsdale Brick Store. We're starting to organize little things like lemonade stands in her neighborhood and I sell painted horse shoes. Then there's always the ever beloved carwash and bake sale...*too much ranting*

We wanted to raise enough to maybe fix it up and maybe if onther people see that teens want the history back, they'll pitch in and we'll have something!:D

Alas are the dreams that come forth form my keyboard...confessions of the lunchroom table *shakes head* all too amist dream clouds for thine own good...for said building that hath stood the tests of time and...ok, I'll stop the silly stuff now. Did anybody understand what I said?:P

Hey Writingrider glad you have joined us on the forum. I saw your posts and talked with Etta Reid today regarding you and your thoughts about forming a Historical Summerfield Organization for teens. She was interested in your thoughts and would welcome the opportunity to share ideas. Etta wanted me to forward you her email address: etreid@aol.com

Adda shem.... get involved! This is great!!

I'm trying to figure out if your on topic, off topic, or anywhere near the topic.

Sounds like spring fever is working on a teen to me.

It sounds to me a student who care about the past, who in talking to fellow teens finds out they are only thinking of cars, girls, boys and whats in it for them.  No one their same age to share the dream or passion of saving our rapidly destroying physical part of history. Meanwhile a old building still standing after all these years is hoping for life again. Who will be there to save it........

Where is this, and what is it, writingrider? What can we do to keep this kind of thing from happening????

well, this building is beyond saving, i do belive. it's at the intersection of Deboe road and Old Oak Ridge road (I think).

I don't know what we can do yet, but I really think we need to take action and stop this from happening to all of these historical buildings.

I didn't think Paul Milam was going to tear down the Saunders Inn. Lets ask Patty or Sandra to check on what he is doing.
