Here's a spot where we can keep an ongoin' tally of the number o' fogs in August so Mr Mike will know how many snow shovels to buy this year an' Crackah an' Macca will know how much snow dancin' will be required to make up the shortfall. I mean snowfall.

Question of the day.

If snowfalls in the woods and no one is there,
Do the bears still hear it?

I agree Pappy. Cracker is not going to be happy if we don't have some fogs. You know how she loves snow.

We don't blow snow down here Steve-O, we just sit back and enjoy it!

I'm gonna see about gettin' one of those FOG machines to see if I can muster up a good fog or two...... maybe that'll help!

Pappy I was thinking about the haze this morning as I walked out to feed the horses. This is my last day as farm manager. I am not sure air polution counts a fog. I am not sure whether there was smog when the old wives started telling their tales.

Fog's been scarce the last few mawnin's. I reckon if there was any we'd hafta call it steam 'stead o' fog. Hoo wee!

If it ever does snow again, I reckon we oughta save the snow scrapin's off the roads an' driveways, pile it all up an' pack it down an' make us a homemade iceberg as big as we can make it. We could set it in Lake Higgins an' by the time August rolls around again, we might have enough left to cool down the water an' he'p generate some fog.

August 11 -- No fog this mornin'. The only thing that kept us from havin' fog was the fact that the conditions weren't right for fog. Otherwise we'd have had fog, I'm sure of it.

So, Pappy! Since we WOULD have had fog had the conditions been right, does that mean it counts??:D:shock:

Hee hee. Well, actually some o' the conditions were right. It was mornin' an' it was August. The only thing missin' was the fog. Since 2 out o' 3 o' the requirements were present, I think we might could get some flurries out of it at least.

Pappy's definitely a glass half full type.

August 12 -- I see a little fog this mornin'. Mebbe Jane will let us count it.

By the way, I think I've figgered out the real problem. Our dirt is too low.
That's right, our dirt is too low. Fog is basically a cloud touchin' the ground, ain't it? So I reckon we'd have us some fog if the ground aroun' here was up yonder where them big cloud critters hang out. Look at Mt Fuji. It's up thar where the clouds are, ain't it? An' it's always got a snow cap, ain't it?

Fill dirt wanted. Clean. No stumps.

Fog Alert!!! It appears to be a gen-u-wine fog this morning. None of that smog that might pass for fog or 2 out of three stuff. Let me know how the fill dirt concept works Pappy !

Woo hoo! Jane says we can count it!

Ok, lemme me add up the tally. I'm gonna step back from the keyboard into cypher space so's I can use my fingers fer countin'. Let's see now, that's...wait, don't he'p me, don't he'p me...uh, dividin' the hypotenuse by Nicolai Lobachevski's birthday, pie squared equals cobbler, carry the pie to the winder sill, add bacon, subtract bacon, fork over pie equals zero, put the lime in the cocoanut, OK...

That's 2 snows an' 1 flurry!

By the way, Jane I wonder if I could borry y'all's bobcat sometime to move some fill dirt into a big pile. Actually, instead o' one big pile o' dirt, I'm a-thinkin' it might work better to build up two purty good size piles o' dirt an' grow some kudzu betwixt 'em like a net. Then wait fer the wind to run a herd o' clouds into my homemade box canyon. Yee Haw! Might as well grade a nice slope off one side o' them hills whilst I'm at it to use as a ski run when all that snow hits!

This project has done got too big fer a bobcat. I reckon I'll hafta hitch ol' Tantor the elephant up to that ol' horse drawed road grader I found when I did some weed eatin' t'other day.

Pappy that does sound like a plan!! Not sure though that it is going to work. I did read in this monrings paper that Chile is having the coldest winter in 30 years so maybe when it is our turn we will get some real winter weather. Showed pictures of kids playing in the snow.  Maybe if Cracker adds a little snow wishing into her rain dancing we will start early with the snow.

Pappy, I read your theory on the clouds likin' higher ground so I decided to check it out with some experts.

I rode up to the Smokey Mountains this weekend and sure enough - clouds sittin' on the top of every hill.

I hear from the locals that they get lots of snow up there so keep addin' the fill dirt to your pile!

(and who's to know if you add a stump or two underneath if it helps you achieve your goal quicker?)

Maybe the rain will stir up some of the dust and form some clouds! We've already established that fog is clouds that are on the ground, right? Do dust clouds count???:D

I think dust clouds definitely count as a form of desert fog. Jane is more of a strict constructionist in these matters, though.

Well I think we will have to bank on the Wooly Worms and of course Crackers dancing could cange the whole thing.  No fog this morning. Just a hot dry wind which actually is kind of nice.

What's the count this month Pappy?
