Hey yall,

Been a long time since I had something to say, so here goes.....Just for GP.....

Anyone know about the new parking system?

I hear the new camera system has worked well for NW.  Caught some red-handed on camera.  So its not only good for observation, but for security also.  There is rumor that money has been received for additional cameras.

I see also that they have renumbered the parking lots.  I think that is a good idea, but still poses a problem for the parking situation at school.  The man next door is not letting students park there next year.  This year he said that he has experienced over a thousand dollars in damages.  Someone ran over his well pump on the last day of school causing him about 1500 dollars in damage and did not report it.  Our kids have caused themselves problems because they have acted so carelessly.

Who will be affected by the new parking points system?

Wow, I know I saw this post really late, but I can fill you in on the parking system, gotobeme.

All seniors get parking spots automatically, as they did in 06-07.  For the juniors, there was a point system that tracked them throughout the second semester of their sophomore year.

Students received 2 points for every day that they were counted present at school, and earned bonus points for a 3 or 4 on the writing test.  Points were taken away for ISS, OSS, tardies, and grades of D or F.  According to the NWHS website:

Important Information for Juniors

* Junior Parking will be based on the incentive point's system program

* Juniors must have a valid driver's license by September 1 to be eligible

* Zero period students and Weaver students are not guaranteed a spot

* We will post the first 50-75 junior names in the parking incentive program online sometime after August 8. Those juniors listed may attend the August 16th registration. All other junior permits will be given out the first week of school.

Important Information for Seniors

  * All seniors are guaranteed a parking spot.

* Senior registration dates are:

Thursday July 19 from 9:00-12:00

Wednesday August 8 from 12:00-3:00

Thursday August 16 from 9:00-12:00

Thanks Anna,

This will help.  Hopefully, everyone will get a even chance to get a space.  Those who did not this year may want to try harder next year.
