While I totally agree with training our fire fighters I am somewhat concerned about noise. Are the volunteer's from stations outside the proposed training facility going to respond to their training with blaring horns day and night? This is my concern, with training as often as 4 to 5 days a week, and I assume that includes nights, will we be subjected to this additional noise in our once peaceful town?

I am concerned about that, and traffic on near our school. Additionally, even if some smoke gets out of the training, is the center of town the best place for this. How about the station at Lake Bryant and Scalesville. Would they not work? It would not be near our schools, traffic on Summerfield Rd and Pleasant Ridge intersection is already a nightmare... any thoughts?

Not Deaf, When talking with fire department people about the proposed training facility, I haven't heard anything said about noise. It is my impression (although I could be wrong) that the training sessions will be planned ahead of time. In other words, they'll be saying to their personnel (or neighboring departments when it is applicable) something like," We'll be doing a training exercise Monday afternoon at 2:00."

Does anyone know where Chief Boykin is going? You all in Summerfield have lost an extremely intelligent person and someone who seemed dedicated beyond reason at times. The times I worked with him and trained with him you learned alot especially about following the rules.

Mike, is he the same guy who was an assistant chief or something like that? I think I met him once and I liked him a lot.

I read somewhar that he wants to make the Far Dept more fambly-oriented an' wants to make the community more aware o' what they're all about. Yee Haw! Sounds good.
