What do you folks think of the new claim Pat Robertson just came out with that said there will be mass killings in the U.S. in 2007? I have a few things to say, but will refrain for now. I would like to hear some of your comments. |

I forgot to mention -- in Pat Robertson's claim -- that he said it was God that told him this. Also, I should mention, I DO NOT listen to, nor condone Pat Robertson in any shape, form , or fashion. The only reason I even heard of his claim was due to the headlines it made on CNN.com. Last edited on Jan 3rd, 2007 12:02 pm by summerfieldrd |

How does Mr. Robertson explain these "predictions" from past years that didn't materialize? |

Wow! Excellent article, Jim! Thanks a million! Apparently, this guy is really a straight up quack and has a long history of being nothing but just that. It really makes me sick at my stomach to think there are people in the world that actually believe in this.... ARGH! Last edited on Jan 4th, 2007 03:10 am by summerfieldrd |

Are there other "psychics" out there making predictions for this year? Is anyone paying attention to them? |

Reminds me of Jeane Dixon. Wikipedia says, "Dixon was so well-known that John Allen Paulos, a mathematician at Temple University, coined what he called the "Jeane Dixon effect", in which people loudly tout a few correct predictions and overlook false predictions. Many of Dixon's forecasts proved false, such as her prediction that World War III would begin in 1958 over the offshore Chinese islands of Quemoy and Matsu, that labor leader Walter Reuther would run for president in 1964 and that the Soviets would land the first man on the moon." I'm also reminded of Oral Roberts. Wikipedia says, "In 1980, Oral Roberts said he had a vision of a 900-foot-tall Jesus who encouraged him to continue the construction of his City of Faith Medical and Research Center, which opened in 1981. At the time, it was the largest health facility of its kind in the world and sought to merge prayer and medicine in the healing process. The City of Faith was in operation for only eight years before closing in late 1989. .... "In 1987, during a fundraising drive, Roberts announced to a television audience that unless he raised $8 million by that March, God would "call him home" (an euphemism for death). He raised $9.1 million. [citation needed] Later that year, he announced that God had raised the dead through Roberts' ministry...." |

Yep, and sadly Robertson could line up the cups of grape cool aid, tell the followers god told him what poison to add and how much, so all should now drinkup, and there would be a string of people who would chug a lug right up. Remember Jim Jones, Guyana ? Elderly members, sign your SS checks over to me, and god will bless you (and bottoms up with the cool aid) Remember Jim & Tammy Faye Bakker? Send us money so God will let us give ourselves so many huge bonuses we won't be able to remember them all. God wants us to live richly. PS - I'm not a Joel Osteen fan either. |

It just seems to me that all of the aforementioned folks are simply after the acclaim and "cult" following achieved by Nostradamus and his prophecies (sp?) I gotta confess though, that I'll watch some Sylvia Brown. If I ever catch her on Montel, I'm hooked! I don't really care if she's really talkin' to dead people or not. |

Yeah, I kind of enjoy listening to Joyce Meyer. It's that down home folksy way of talking she has. I read an article a few months back that some "tv preacher skeptic" was accusing her ministries of some type of shenanigans, whatever it was, didn't slow her down any. Whatever, I still think Pat Robertson is full of hot air. |

I think Pat Robertson has a keen sense of the obvious. Of course terrorists are going to attempt an attack, and when they do, he can jump up and say, "Told you so!" But I bet the catch will be that the attack will be thwarted and it will all be because he made the prediction and, thus, put the nation on high alert. Jim's article headlined the 'defective' line to God. Do you guys think that was Alltel, 'cause I'm dropping calls like mad up around Rockingham Co.? No wonder why the message got crossed! |
