As always, the Stokesdale parade was awesome. The NWO always enjoys participating. Thanks to Vicki and the parade committee for all their hard work.

Many thanks for your kind words!

Next year is our 10th, so we'd love to make it even better! We can always use more help......

As I mentioned before, we'll be getting together in January to review this one as we plan for next year. We will likely get together in July (as soon as Greensboro decides when their parade will be) so we can get organized for ours.

If anyone has a videotape of this year's parade, we'd love to borrow a copy of it for our meeting!

How would you go about getting a band such as NC A&T , they put on a show stopping performance everywhere. Of course just our little parade doubles the population of Stokesdale for a few hours, imagine how many people would show up for that.

It may be as simple as inviting them. In the past, we had a member who tried making contact with other schools in our area, although I don't think anyone has ever contacted any of the colleges or universities. Some of these bands may need money to cover expenses, and we have a very limited budget....

We have a very small group of people who work on the parade each year and would definitely welcome more to help us make these kinds of contacts and follow up on them.

I have learned that some of the folks with the Summerfield Youth Council taped the parade and have burned a DVD of it that they are giving to the parade committee!! Many thanks to Terry McLean and Kim Jackson!!

We haven't yet set the date for our followup meeting but I'll be sure and post it when we do.

The parade was great!!!  I couldn't believe all the time that people put into the floats.  It was a wonderful small town feeling that day.

Lacka, at least Time Magazine recognized YOU as it's Person Of The Year! So you see your good deeds don't go unnoticed!

Yep, I noticed several folks doing float duty at the Summerfield TC meeting making all the little white puffy things.   Hope I don't have parades confused, I assumed the floats were universal for both parades (SF & SD)

Steve,
SYC's Award-winning float in the Stokesdale Holiday Parade featured a SNOWMAN..... although those folks are creative enough that they may be able to figure out how to use it in the Founder's Day Parade, which is held in May!

I saw the "snow",  May or July should be no problem for these great folks, it won't melt.
