OK.. the weather forecast is calling for snow & freezing rain... & AGAIN Grier has not even delayed school when Forsythe County has called off school... what is up with that?
Exam week... they had to postpone exams the day they had the winter weather because parents were either not sending their kids or checked their kids out early... My daughter's bus was 45 minutes late & slid around several times en route. Is he waiting for someone to get hurt?
I just don't understand....

Where ya been DT???? Glad you're back!
I just woke up and noticed that they've cancelled Guilford County Schools finally....... I guess they just wanted to wait until we were all in bed so that everyone would have to get up in the morning..... Couldn't announce it at 11.....
So, since I got up and checked for ya'll, DON'T WAKE UP! School's cancelled!!!!!!

well, our decision is multi-fold... hubby has been laid off & injured since Aug... & I never have found a "perm-full-time" techie job so money is the main driving force... then too our family is in SC... so back we go! I'll still keep in touch... a part of Stokesdale will always be in my heart!

Sounds as though GCS finally announced decision to close around midnight last night! (About 9 hours AFTER WS/FC schools!

We'll sure miss you DT! SC is lucky to be getting you back! Is your daughter doing ok with the idea of moving? Not sure what age she is, but I think it was high school. That can sometimes be tough. Maybe she's excited to be heading back to family though....
Be sure to check in on us from time to time!

It is a no win situation with school and the weather, it wouldn't matter if Grier was the most revered person in the world.
If they delay/cancel school and the weather doesn't show up they get lambasted.
If they don't cancel/delay and the weather does show up they get lambasted.
While the day isn't over yet, it looks like the weather at 11:17 isn't as bad as predicted.

rasin -- You're right, no-win situation, but everyone had to go with the calls they made... It isn't worth being wrong when you consider the consequences of that.... It's getting ready to change over to sleet and freezing rain now.... Do we want buses and teenage drivers out in that?

I agree they should err on the side of safety but I also sympathize with them being a bit gun-shy at times because if they get it wrong and cancel school the parents that work or have other obligations will give them a roasting.
Given how young NC drivers can be I’d prefer most of them be off the roads even in good weather

Are NC drivers younger than drivers in other states?

Where I grew up you didn't get a learner's permit until 17 unless you took drivers ed and then you could get it at 16.5 and take the test when you became 17. You could get your permit at 17 and take the test right away if you wanted to.
Given how I remember the misfiring synapses when I was 15-16 I cringe at the mental processes going on when kids are driving at that age. Though now I am just glad to have some synapses that fire at all…
