We try to stay informed with happenings at NW High......really try.

Are the teachers 'required' to have a website with INFO. on it?

I've heard from so many other people.....most of whom work, and

don't have time to call, or receive calls at work,

that emailing questions to a teacher often is never answered.

Is teacher email at the school an option teacher's may use, or

are they required to check and use email, as well as put info.

on their site pertaining to classwork?

If anyone knows, thanks!

That's a good question, CiCi. I've had mixed results with emailing teachers at the schools. Some are wonderful and respond right away. Others, maybe who aren't so good at communicating or who aren't so computer literate, never respond. For that matter, some don't respond to phone calls either.

I'll see if I can find out the answer to this question. I'll email Mr. Kidd, who is one of those that is great about responding.

thanks so much...yes, some are wonderful about responding and it makes a huge difference in the whole year when teachers don't mind including parents, as well as US being able to drop them a note to tell them how much we appreciate all that they do.

Some have their syllabus and even Supply Lists !!! on their website which is HUGE  help!

Well, none of MY son's teachers posted syllabus or supply list :( - all were 'under construction' except for one, who did at least have a nice opening statement....  But some other teachers actually do show helpful info.

Guess they couldn't include that in our phone messages since so many don't seem to utilize the websites.  Maybe eventually they'll put something on their sites?

Meant to say previously to you, I went to NWHS Forum but it looked like it's only been used so far for comments on the possible new early morning programs?

Does anyone know anything about the National Young Leaders Conference?  My daughter was nominated to go this spring for NWHS.  Anything you can tell me would be greatly appreciated... especially if you know someone that has been.

Thanks!

we attended Open House on 9/11 & it was great!  The school was shiny clean & teachers were out in force to greet us parents.  ;)

I was glad to have a chance to see everyone in attendance.... supports my theory that NWHS is great

because of its people!  :cool::cool:

I thought this was a good question, so I checked with Mr. Kidd. According to him, teachers are required to check and use e-mail. He did admit that there had been some problems with e-mail in the mobile units, but he hoped that would be fixed soon.

Re Web sites, Mr. Kidd said all teachers are expected to have one up and running by Sept. 18. Of course, it would have been nice had teachers had these just before school started so parents and kids might have known a little more about what to expect and/or what supplies were needed, but I guess it would be hard to require something over the summer when teachers aren't even back at work yet.

Mr. Kidd did not say what teachers were required to put on the Web sites or how often they were expected to update them. I'm assuming it will be like anything else -- some will do a great job using them and keeping people informed while others may put something on there one time and never use it again. At any rate, there is a place where you can click on the teachers' Web site to send them an e-mail.

:?  has anyone heard of the NC "requirement" for each student to read 25 books this year?  my avp at work was asking me... mine had not said anything about it..... then when I asked (tonight) she said Mr. Kidd said something about it, but her teacher said it was not a "requirement".... anyone have any thoughts or insight on this? :?

DT.... My daughter says that her English teacher mentioned it last year and told them that it was going to be a requirement for this year but so far this year, it hasn't been mentioned at all.

If they come up and tell my High Schooler that she's gotta read 25 books this year then we're breakin' out the Dr. Seuss books! ;)
