I sent CJ a private message last night after talking with someone who voiced the opinion that it is hard to just jump right in.... I understood what this person was saying even though I try to keep up on a fairly regular basis... I don't post much but I read as much as possible.
Cracker Jax... Maybe a good beginning would be to explain private messages. How? Why? Thanks!
No problem Vicki!
Private Messages or PM's as we call them are just that. Private. They are just like sending an email message to other forum folks.
If you are logged on under your member name you can PM any other forum member and ask questions or tell them something that you don't want to post publicly.
There are a couple of ways to get to the PM screen:
In the upper right hand corner of the screen look for the phrase that says "Logged in as (your name) - No New Messages". Click on the "No new messages" part and that'll take you to the PM screen.
Another way is to CLICK on the name of the person you want to send the PM to. A menu will pop up and you choose send private message which will take you to the PM screen.
The person receiving the PM will only see your "forum name" and won't have access to any of your private information.
This is important....You have to be sure to spell the name correctly and make sure all spaces are correct... for instance, in Cracker Jax there's a space and you have to put it in, but in FatPappy there isn't one so you have to leave that one out. In Vicki White-Lawrence there's that hyphen and a space so you might want to write that one down! ( kidding Vicki!!!) It makes a difference. Your message won't send unless you get it right.
Want to practice??? PM me! I'll answer you and you can learn how to check PM's!!
Did I make that clear??? Any questions? There might be a pop quiz later you know..... Last edited on Aug 14th, 2006 03:17 am by Cracker Jax
